Goal rush for youth team

Alex Mullin got the second goal

The game gave me a first look at three of our new boys, Jack Errington, Luke Conlan and Jason Gilchrist, and all did well.

Whilst we had the backdrop of the development squad being put through their paces by Jason Blake, the youth team turned in a first half performance that should have brought a few goals. Unfortunately, the chances were missed and somehow the scoreline was 0-0 at the break.

You always sensed that we might get more if we could just get the breakthrough and that's exactly what happened. We took the lead on 57 minutes and six minutes later the scoring was complete as the third went in.

Gilchrist, who has been signed from Manchester City, got the first two whilst Alex Mullin, watched by dad Paul and Uncle John, scored the second although his shot did benefit from a slight deflection off the defender.

There were some really pleasing aspects of the performance. We certainly played extremely well defensively and going forwards were very creative, although I'm sure Terry Pashley and Andy Farrell might just be working on the finishing.

Overall it was a good performance.

The teams was: Callum Jakovlevs, Aryn Williams (Charlie Holt), Jack Errington, Tom Anderson, Luke Conlan, Alex Mullin, Archie Love (Nathan Lowe), Adam Evans, James Taylor, Shay McCartan, Jason Gilchrist.
