Even so, with six goals scored and none conceded we remain top of the league on goal difference but the results are still not giving any real clues as to which will be the better teams this year.

Just three weeks into the season, only Burnley, Bury, Walsall and Macclesfield remain unbeaten whilst just Accrington and Wigan are looking for their first win.

Accrington got a creditable draw against Rochdale in their opening game but they very much looked as though they might get that first win on Saturday at home to Bury. They led 3-0 at half time but there was a big turn round after the break with Bury coming back to win it 5-4.

Nine goals, but that was beaten at Wigan where the Premier League club's youth team were beaten 6-5 by the youth team from Blue Square Bet Premier League club Stockport leaving Wigan as the only club without a point.

There were first wins of the season for both Rochdale and Morecambe who beat Blackpool and Oldham respectively whilst there were also wins for Preston, Tranmere and Walsall.

Burnley are back in action again this Saturday with a home game against Blackpool, one of four fixtures this week.
