Burnley's 5-0 win at Blackpool on Saturday has seen them join Walsall and Carlisle at the top of the Youth Alliance League, although with us currently in third place on goal difference.
|Leading scorer Shay McCartan now has nine goals|
Our climb of one place is ahead of Preston who were surprisingly held to a 0-0 draw by Oldham and are now a point behind whilst right behind North End are Bury who matched our result on Saturday with a 5-0 win at Rochdale.
Tranmere were also winners to take them sixth, and there are just three points separating the top six right now and there are goals in these teams. Walsall are averaging three goals per game whilst all of the other five are averaging more than two goals per game.
Defensively, no doubt, Walsall are doing the best with only four goals conceded in their seven games.
The other winners on Saturday were Shrewsbury with their 2-1 success against Wigan lifting them three places up the table after starting the day next to bottom.
Burnley face Oldham at Gawthorpe next Saturday but before that we have the Lancashire FA Youth Cup tie against Accrington Stanley which is scheduled to be played this Wednesday evening at the Crown Ground, kick off 7:00 p.m.
