Clarets go down to 2-1 defeat at Leeds

Dominic Knowles scored for the Clarets

They came up against a much stronger and far more experienced Leeds side that included the likes of Luciano Becchio, former Burnley target Leigh Bromby and Charlie Austin's strike partner from his Swindon days Billy Paynter.

It was Bromby who gave Leeds the lead in the first half with a header following a corner and Becchio made it 2-0 before the half time whistle in a first half that they'd dominated.

Burnley did pull one back in the second half when the unknown trialist and Mehdi Lazaar linked up for Dominic Knowles to finish well.

The game ended at 2-1 and the Clarets second string will next be in action in two weeks time when we travel to Oldham in the Central League. This game has an afternoon kick off and will be played at Oldham's training ground.

Burnley lined up today: Josh Cook, Aryn Williams, Alex Coleman, Tom Anderson, Dave Lynch (Luke Conlan 75), Ross Wilson (Alex Mullin 75), Steven Hewitt (Cameron Howieson 65), Archie Love (Shay McCartan 65), Mehdi Lazaar (Adam Evans 70), Dominic Knowles, Trialist. Subs not used: Craig Mawson, Anthony Glover.
