They were significant results in that Wigan can no longer catch Bury should they win their game in hand with the lead now at four points.
The league table currently shows teams having played up to five games more than some. Blackpool, Tranmere and Wrexham have now all played 22 games, leaving them with just eight games to play, but at the other end, both Oldham and Rochdale have played just 17 games leaving them with 13 still to play.
That could mean big changes to the table and it certainly looks likely that Rochdale and Walsall could still push a lot closer to those top positions, even putting Bury under some pressure.
Rochdale were again without a game last Saturday but Walsall could only draw at home against Carlisle which might make it more difficult for them but should they win their games in hand it would take them within five points of Bury, Rochdale meanwhile could actually draw level if they were to win all four games in hand.
We are currently seventh in the table after Saturday's defeat but a good run of results could see us move up the table. A drop looks far less likely apart from Oldham maybe getting above us, The other clubs just below have all played more games.
We are playing Oldham this afternoon when a defeat would see us slip one place and a win could move us up one place dependent on the result of the game between Preston and Rochdale, also this afternoon.
Our next game will then be at Shrewsbury this coming Saturday.
