Trippier scored the only goal of the game just past the half hour with a strike from just outside the penalty box in a game where we were never able to take firm advantage against Brighton's ten men.
He won the man of the match vote by some considerable distance, claiming 46.4% of the vote. he was the only player to win double figures in the vote with central defender David Edgar and midfielder Dean Marney coming joint second with a 9.3% share of the vote each.
There were two other players joining him in the top three of the player ratings but again he was a comfortable winner with a rating of 7.75 out of 10. The only other player to push above seven was goalkeeper Lee Grant who came second with a rating of 7.13 whilst a rating of 6.50 out of 10 was enough to secure third place for Michael Duff.
Trippier wins the maximum six points towards the player of the year whilst all of Edgar, Grant and Marney get two points with one point for Duff. When added, they take Trippier into second place in the table behind Marvin Bartley who still holds a 13 point lead.
Grant joins Rodriguez in third place, Edgar is now seventh whilst Duff is now just outside the top ten players.
