Our best team of the last ten years - the goalkeeper

Brian Jensen started 221 league games

We've looked at our best team of the previous decade on a couple of occasions when Little, and other members of Ternent's teams such as Steve Davis and Paul Cook have been named.

It's hard to believe it is now over ten years since any of those players featured for us but we've moved on and have, in the last decade, won two promotions to the Premier League. We are now asking you, over the next six weeks or so, to select the players you think are worthy of being in the best Burnley team of the last decade.

The first vote is for the goalkeeper. Any players selected for these votes must have made a minimum of ten league starts for Burnley so, for this first vote, it rules out goalkeepers such as Mike Pollitt and Diego Penny.

There are just five goalkeepers to select from. Danny Coyne, a summer 2004 signing, played in the first games of the 2004/05 season before suffering a serious knee injury. For the next game he was replaced by Brian Jensen who, for much of the next six years was first choice.

Gabor Kiraly took over in the first part of the 2007/08 season, like Coyne a Steve Cotterill signing, but he lost his place under Owen Coyle who forced the Hungarian to act as substitute goalkeeper in the reserves to Penny.

The summer of 2010 saw Burnley return to the Championship after one year in the Premier League. Lee Grant, who had played one game for us in 2005, was signed and eventually became first choice, and remained so until he opted to sign for Derby last summer.

That brought Tom Heaton to Turf Moor and he's been an ever present in this recent promotion season.

So you have five choices - Danny Coyne (39), Brian Jensen (221), Gabor Kiraly (27), Lee Grant (114) and Tom Heaton (46). The figures are the number of league starts they made during the ten year period.

The vote is available on the front page of the site or the VOTING POLLS page and will run until the end of Tuesday with the right back vote starting on Wednesday.
