Kights won both the man of the match vote and the player ratings on a night when Burnley took a two goal lead in the opening minutes but then went on to lose the tie 4-2 and out of the competition in the third round for the fourth consecutive season.
It was a three man race for the man of the match with Kightly winning with 19.6% of the vote. Marvin Sordell, who opened the scoring with his first Burnley goal, was second with 18.5% and third place went to Kieran Trippier who had a 16.3% share. Michael Duff, captain on the night, was fourth with 9.8% of the vote.
Kightly was also the player ratings winner with 6.86 out of 10 which was some way ahead of Trippier who came in second with 6.14. Scott Arfield and Ross Wallace jointly took third place; both had ratings of 6 out of 10.
The points awarded for the Clarets Mad Player of the Year start with a maximum ten for Kightly. Trippier won five points and there were three for Sordell, two for both Arfield and Wallace and one point for Duff.
Arfield was the only one of the top seven in the table to win any points. He remains in third place but has closed the gap on Jason Shackell to seven points with Danny Ings still top, a further six points ahead of Shackell.
