It's Trippier Day - he's also in the Clarets Mad team

The contract news, of course, is of far more importance, but the prophecy that Trippier would win the vote for our best right-back of the last ten years by a landslide has proved to be absolutely correct.

I don't think there has been a poll on Clarets Mad before that has been won by this sort of margin, but, from a massive response, and against three other contenders, he walked away with no less than 97.1% of the vote.

There was some thought that Tyrone Mears, his predecessor in the number two shirt, might run him somewhat closer than he did, but Mears, who played in our last Premier League season, finished joint bottom with Rhys Williams, both having received 0.9% of the vote, and incredibly lower than Lee Roche who won 1.1%.

So it is two from the current team who have won places with Trippier joining best goalkeeper Tom Heaton. Now it is time to vote for the best left-back and here we have more players to choose from, seven in all.

Mo Camara is first on the list. He spent two seasons at Turf Moor, the second of which was the first of these last ten seasons. The next two seasons brought Jon Harley into the team but he eventually lost his place for the 2007/08 season to Stephen Jordan.

Jordan enjoyed two and a half years as first choice but injuries often kept him out of the side and that meant games for Christian Kalvenes who arrived ahead of the 2008/09 promotion season and saw him play in the first team during the end of season play-offs which culminated with that Wembley win against the Blades.

With Jordan again suffering with injuries we signed Danny Fox in January 2010 and he was the first choice for a season and a half before moving to Southampton in a big deal. That saw Brian Easton take on the left-back mantle for one season.

Ben Mee played occasionally there and in January 2012 we also signed Danny Lafferty and that plus the signing of Joseph Mills helped bring Easton's time at Burnley to an end in the summer of 2012.

Mills, who was signed on a season long loan with a guaranteed two years to follow, was planned to be the next left-back, but he was left out by manager Eddie Howe after a handful of games and since then it has been very much Mee as first choice left-back with Lafferty, who earlier this week signed a new three year deal, as his able deputy.

There are your choices - Mo Camara, Jon Harley, Stephen Jordan, Christian Kalvenes, Danny Fox, Brian Easton, Ben Mee and Danny Lafferty.

You can vote via the front page of the site or the VOTING POLLS page. The vote will run until the end of Tuesday, after which we will begin the search for two central defenders.

Who joins Heaton and Trippier is your choice.
