It was a close run thing for the man of the match with three players close to coming out on top, but it was Ings, with 23.9% of the vote, who came out on top just head of both Ashley Barnes and George Boyd who both won a 21.6% share.
Central defender Michael Keane, who has settled into the team really well since coming on for Michael Duff in the 2-1 win at Stoke, claimed fourth place with 11.4% of the vote.
Ings was again first in the player ratings but this time there were defenders in those places just below him. He won it with a rating of 7.73 out of 10 with the next three places taken by players from the back four. Keane was second this time with 7.47 and he was followed by Kieran Trippier and Jason Shackell whose ratings were 7.36 and 7.29 out of 10.
This result has won Ings the maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year. Keane has won four points and there are three points each for Barnes and Boyd, two points for Trippier and one point for Shackell.
That all means that Ings has moved ahead of Scott Arfield into second place and is now only two points behind leader Shackell. Those three players are some distance ahead of the rest with Barnes heading the next group which shows five players separated by just four points.
The result of the Manchester City game will follow this afternoon but meanwhile you can still vote for the Newcastle game, with voting ending at the end of today.
