It was all square between him and captain Jason Shackell going into the Villa game. Both played well; both were in the top four in both the man of the match vote and player ratings, but it was Ings who won the most points.
He was second in the man of the match vote with a 28.4% share, behind the winner Dean Marney who won 37.6% of the vote. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton was third with 14.5% and Shackell sneaked into fourth place with just 3.9% of the vote.
The same four players were in the top four in the player ratings although this time there was some switching of places. Ings had a rating of 7.73 to come out on top ahead of Heaton whose rating was 7.57.
Third and fourth places went to Marney and Shackell with ratings of 7.30 and 7.16 out of 10 respectively.
That result gave eight points towards the player of the year to Ings, seven to Marney and five to Heaton with Shackell winning two points.
Those points saw Ings end November with 22 points from the four games. Shackell was second with 16 points, just ahead of Heaton while both Marney and Stephen Ward reached double figures.
The big change in the player of the year table is Ings moving into third place just ahead of Lukas Jutkiewicz. Shackell has reduced the gap at the top but still trails leader Scott Arfield by 18 points.
