The two of them took the top two places in the man of the match vote with Ings, our November player of the month, coming first. He had 29.5% of the vote with his captain and central defender Shackell just behind with a 28.5% share.
Ings' strike partner Ashley Barnes was third with 12.8% and George Boyd took the fourth place with a 11.5% share of the vote.
If the vote between the top two was close then the player ratings were even closer where they couldn't be separated. Both had ratings of 8.04 out of 10 to jointly take first place.
Barnes was again third with a rating of 7.02 with goalkeeper Tom Heaton winning fourth place; his rating was 6.98 out of 10.
That result gives Ings the maximum ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with Shackell winning eight points. There were four points for Barnes while both Boyd and Heaton picked up one point each.
Not too long ago, Scott Arfield looked to be running away with it. Only Lukas Jutkiewicz was anywhere close, but that's changed now with both Ings and Shackell closing down that lead at the top.
Arfield now leads Shackell by just ten points and Ings is only one further point away. He now leads Jutkiewicz, who remains in fourth place, by eleven points.
