Looking back at the game, not too much was asked of him in terms of shot saving during the first seventy minutes, but what was asked of him he did well. But, once behind, he came into his own with two saves in particular, from Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott, standing out. The Podolski save also drew applause from Arsenal keeper Wojciech Zzczesny at the other end.
It's Tom's first man of the match award since the 2-1 win at Leeds last season and the 74.9% of the vote he won is the highest share since Danny Ings' 78% in the Capital One Cup defeat of Nottingham Forest, also last season.
With all but three quarters of the vote going to Tom it meant there was little to go round for the rest of the players. That left Dean Marney taking second place with only 5.6% of the vote with third and fourth places going to Michael Duff and Kieran Trippier with 4.4% and 4.0% of the vote respectively.
Heaton was way ahead in the player ratings too. His rating of 8.68 out of 10 was the second highest of the season, just behind the 8.73 won by Scott Arfield in the draw against Manchester United.
It was some way ahead of Trippier who was second with a rating of 7.40 with Jason Shackell and Dean Marney in third and fourth places. Shackell's rating was 7.28 and Marney's 7.04 out of 10.
This result means Heaton has won ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year, his first points of the season. Marney has won four points with three for Shackell and Trippier and two points for Duff.
