January winner Junior Stanislas |
Throughout February and March we scored nine goals with one of them, our second at Watford, coming from the penalty spot. All the other goals are included starting with Charlie Austin's first minute goal at Peterborough.
It was his first game back from injury and offered the promise of goals to come. He's scored half of the eight goals on offer but it was another month before he scored again.
Martin Paterson got the late equaliser that day and the only other goal scored in February was David Edgar's at Bolton, in fact his first goal of the season and his first since that brace at Hull in November 2010.
Into March and we were, compared to the previous month, awash with goals and Austin was at the forefront. He scored the long range goal at Charlton to give us a 1-0 win and followed that up with the scrambled effort against Barnsley that gave us a lead we weren't able to keep.
The next goal was almost the winner in the local derby. It was Jason Shackell's first Burnley goal and gave us the lead at Ewood, a lead we'd have kept right until the end if the assistant referee had made any attempt to do his job.
There was one more game remaining in March and it gave us three goals for the first time since the win at Bristol City, albeit we also conceded three in a 3-3 draw against Watford at Vicarage Road.
Austin scored in the first minute, turning the ball home after Ross Wallace's effort had been blocked. We started the game with a goal and ended it the same way when Sam Vokes finished really well, left footed, after getting on the end of an Austin header.
So, eight to select from; four from Austin and one each from Paterson, Edgar, Shackell and Vokes.
Voting will run until the end of Friday and you can vote via the VOTING POLLS page or the front page.
The winner will automatically join the previous monthly winners this season which are Dean Marney (August v Port Vale), Austin (September v Millwall), Paterson (October v Crystal Palace), Marney (November v Hull), Wallace (December v Birmingham) and Junior Stanislas (January v Crystal Palace).
