Barton went into the Cardiff game, which brought November to a close, in second place behind Ben Mee, but with Mee not making the top four in either the vote or the ratings he won the points needed to take first place again.
Boyd though, for the first time this season, was the winner. He polled 28.8% of the man of the match vote to finish above Barton who was second with a 12.5% share. Goalkeeper Tom Heaton grabbed third place with 11.3% and Dean Marney, making his first appearance since February, coming on as a substitute for David Jones, was fourth with 10.6% of the vote.
Three of those four players were in the top four of the ratings which saw Boyd come out on top again with 7.20 out of 10, but in second place was Tendayi Darikwa who had a rating of 6.87. Barton took third place with 6.60 with Marney again fourth with a rating of 6.40 out of 10.
I think there has to be a mention for Rouwen Hennings too although he wasn't on the pitch long enough to be included. He came in for some unnecessary criticism after his performance against Brighton, just his third start for the Clarets. In this game he came on and did really well and, of course, scored the first of our two goals which earned the point.
That gives Boyd ten points towards the Clarets Mad Player of the Year with five points for Barton, three for Darikwa and two each for Heaton and Marney.
Those points took Barton's total for the month to 18, three ahead of Mee, whilst for the player of the year there are now joint leaders with Darikwa having moved level with Michael Keane. Barton's points have also moved him level with Michael Duff who now share third place.
