Supporters Club enjoys Hexham Races

We left Burnley at 9.30 for our journey to the north east, enjoying several glasses of Bucks Fizz while travelling via the M6 and the A69 to our destination 2 miles south of the town of Hexham. We arrived at this pleasant racecourse set in the Northumberland fells around 12.30, being greeted by the normal northern hospitality.

We enjoyed a three course meal before the afternoon racing took place, and the racing was more productive for some than others. The afternoon was made better when several of the party made a killing on the last race by backing the winner at 14/1.

We intended to celebrate this success by stopping at the Woolpack for a celebratory drink only to find it had closed and reopened as an Indian restaurant, therefore keeping our alcohol intake to a minimum.

We arrived back at about 9.30 looking forward to our next extravaganza, the Weekend trip to Portsmouth in December which 40 people have already committed themselves.
