His work at Watford, Wolves and Villa was with Graham Taylor and Harrison enjoyed a coaching spell with the England team during Taylor's tenure as manager.
He's not spoken to the media ahead of the game, the only words have come from a 'disappointed' Boothroyd and from chairman Ray Ranson who said the sacking was not a knee jerk reaction.
Meanwhile, Eddie Howe will be looking to get Burnley back to winning ways after the home defeat to Millwall on Saturday and he believes there is no need to panic.
"There are fine lines between winning and losing, as there always is," he said. "There wasn't a lot in the game. I don't think it reflected a 3-0 scoreline. We switched off at a couple of set plays and got punished on the break at the end.
"We know we can play better and that's what we'll be looking to do against Coventry, but it just goes to prove that if you drop below what your best is in this league you will get punished."
Howe added: "I've no doubt in the players at all. We're going to have setbacks from time to time, that's the nature of football. We need to keep our focus and we need to make sure we stay grounded and level headed and believe in the players here, because we need to stick with them through the good times and the bad."
