We perhaps didn't create an abundance of chances

Lambert saw his side come back from 1-0 down to draw level before Jay Rodriguez grabbed Burnley's winner nine minutes from time and he felt his side deserved better.

He said: "I thought we very much deserved something more for the way we played, especially in the second half when I thought we were relentless.

"There's times this season when we've been beaten and we didn't deserve to and I thought that was one of them.

"I knew I'd get a good reaction from them at half time despite being a goal down because that's the way they are as a group. Second half our performance was excellent against a team who were playing in the Premier League last season."

After playing so well in the first half we found ourselves under pressure after half time and after the game Howe said: "Full credit to Norwich. They are a good side and I thought they made it very difficult for us in the second half.

"I felt we were excellent in the first half and put a lot of balls in their box. We perhaps didn't create an abundance of chances, but we had the balance of power. In the second half that changed and full credit to us because we stayed strong and came back with a second wind. The lads' heads didn't drop and we kept plugging away.

"It was almost once they equalised the pressure was over and we could come back into the game again. Full credit to the players for that response and then to score the second goal and see out the game really pleased me."

It's a second league win for Howe and a second 2-1 win with today's goalscorers the same two who scored in the victory over Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Speaking about them, Howe added: "I thought Jay deserved it. His all round performance was good again and he has a fantastic attitude and great ability, so we are delighted for him.

"Dean has been excellent since we have been here. His all round performances have been very good, he gets box-to-box and he has been really consistent and scored a couple of important goals, so we are really pleased with him."

New boy Charlie Austin, making his home debut, played just over an hour and Howe said: "There is a big difference between League One and the Championship and it will take him a while to get used to the pace and how quick it is.

"But once he does he will be fine and the two games he has had will be really important to him and we are going to look to work with him and improve him, but we know once he gets chances he will score goals."
