He's also had words of praise ringing in his ears from the man who will be in the opposite dug out this afternoon, Reading boss Nigel Adkins.

Adkins will be visiting Burnley as a manager for the first time since early in the 2011/12 season when he was then manager of Southampton and a game that ended 1-1 with Charlie Austin, inevitably, scoring our goal.

Ahead of today's game he heaped praise on Dyche, saying: ""Great credit to Sean in what he's gone and done there. He is someone that I know, he's done a great job and was very unfortunate when he lost his job at Watford because he was doing great things there.

"He's rejuvenated and galvanised Burnley Football Club. The way they're playing football is great. Vokes and Ings are both on form, the big and little man complement each other ever so well.

"Burnley play some good football, a variety in the way they go and pass it and it's going to be a challenging fixture. We have to set a challenge for them. Now they're sitting top they've got to deal with the pressures that come with being up there.

"But the league table will change all the way through up until the final week. I said I wanted to be in the race, and we're in the race. We're always striving for that perfect performance.

Dyche, briefly said: "They've got a strong squad but, as we've shown, we want to be competitive in every game and so far we've been exactly that.

"It's another big game and another good chance for us at the Turf on Saturday and I want to make sure the lads are ready for that."
