It's an opportunity to get back on track

The two managers have seen their sides clash on three previous occasions. One ended in a 0-0 draw but the honours are shared with them both also having a 4-0 win against the other.

Tonight they meet two divisions higher than previous clashes and it as a game that Barnsley boss Keith Hill suggests could be a difficult one for his side.

Ahead of tonight's game he said: "We've got to try and be one step in front of the opposition in our game plan. We are what we are, we're dealing with what we've got. We'll be successful this season in our remit to retain our Championship status.

"It's a group effort. It's an effort that's going to have to be maintained throughout the season."

Moving on to his thoughts on Burnley, Hill added: "I think it's been great management by the Burnley hierarchy. They've got a great manager in Eddie Howe.

"It's not just a young manager's game, it's a good manager's game. It's a very selfish game, players will think about their own prospects of being successful. There's got to be a quick response, it's a great opportunity and we're looking forward to it."

Hill has also been singing the praises of Danny Drinkwater, the midfielder currently on loan from Manchester United. He said: "Danny's been absolutely superb. He's been instrumental. On Saturday (in their 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth) he found it very difficult against a superb partnership with respect to Norris and Mullins. Sometimes the opposition are just a little bit better than you and you just have to accept that.

"I expect him to be a better player as a result of playing with us. He's progressively getting better. It's a constant reminder to him that the demands of the game are forever changing."

Assistant boss Jason Tindall spoke to the media at Turf Moor yesterday and, following the home defeat against Reading, said: "It's a good opportunity to put right what went wrong on Saturday.

"We were very disappointed with Saturday's performance, but the good thing is we've got a game on Tuesday night. It's going to be a tough game but it's an opportunity to get that out of the system and get back on track where we left off before Saturday's game.

"We know we didn't perform anywhere near what we are capable of and anywhere near the level we had shown before the weekend game and our aim is to get back to performing as well as we did against the likes of Millwall, Southampton and Nottingham Forest and learn from the weekend's performance and put everything right."

"Every game you play is a tough one and we are expecting no different at Barnsley. Keith (Hill) and David (Flitcroft) have done a great job so we have to make sure we go there fully focused on what we've got to do and work extremely hard. With that we have great ability within the squad so hopefully we can get a result."
