I think we are grateful for a point on the second half showing

Steve Harrison and Andy Thorn were put in temporary charge of the Sky Blues when they sacked Aidy Boothroyd on Monday and it was a delighted Thorn who spoke after the game.

"I thought the boys were absolutely fantastic," he said. "We changed quite a bit in a short period of time. We loaded a lot of information into them in one go and I thought they were awesome.

"For large periods of the game we were in control against a very good side pushing for promotion. I like the way we kept th ball, our work ethic was fantastic and they were a credit to the football club.

"I felt, maybe, we deserved a little bit more from the game. That's what we've got to build on, those are our standards and we have to go on from there."

It wasn't a good night for Eddie Howe who heard the first signs of dissent as things didn't work, particularly with the fans calling for Andre Bikey. "The fans are obviously frustrated because we are not playing as well as we can, and it's a two way thing," he said.

"We need to perform to get the crowd with us and we never really did that tonight. In an ideal world you would have vocal support from start to finish, but it's not an ideal world and people can get frustrated. It's just a case of the players being mentally strong and being able to take that pressure and be able to perform."

Howe continued: "Tonight I thought I would be loyal to the players who have done so well recently and give them the opportunity to put Saturday's defeat to Millwall right. Unfortunately, it didn't quite get the response we wanted, so we will see what our options are for Bristol.

"There are people waiting in the wings, and the lads know they have to perform. We haven't really done that in the last two games and so that is something we will have to look at. People are pushing for games and for starts, but that's the nature of football when you don't win. We will have to look at it and see how people train and then pick a team for Bristol."

"I think we are grateful for a point on the second half showing," he added. "Credit to Coventry for putting us under pressure and we were under the cosh a bit. But saying that, we came alive in the last 20 minutes and showed what we are capable of, so it's a frustrating night and one that might have been really.

"It was a fantastic opening goal by Jay and at that stage you thought if we can get that second goal it could be a comfortable night for us. But Coventry started the second half well and it became difficult for us.

"Conceding three and two at home is disappointing, but in the end we got the point. It wasn't the three we wanted, but it's a point closer to where we want to be.

"Overall it's a feeling of disappointment, but you have to look at the bigger picture. We are still in a good position and people can be very quick to be negative, but we have to reflect on the positives and the remaining games we have got."
