Tw*t of the Week Special – He just keeps on whinging

Last updated : 10 March 2004 By Tony Scholes

Denis Wise looked a more than suitable candidate but after Chris Boden’s wonderful attack on him in the Burnley Express I decided that was enough. Then there was Sepp Blatter, football’s Mr. Corruption.

Last week he openly advocated a move for Celtic and Rangers to join the Premiership whilst insincerely saying it was a decision for the Football Associations involved and that FIFA did not wish to get involved further.

This arrogant little man did not even bother to hide his true agenda which is to replace the four home FAs (all of them are older than FIFA) with a single Great Britain Football Association fielding one team in international tournaments.

Then this venomous little man is demanding that FA Cup replays be scrapped as well as trying to force the Premiership down to eighteen clubs.

He was all set to become the first recipient of the award in 2004 but just as the crown was set to rest easily on his head in came the real Tw*t of the Week, the Pathetic Weary Whinger of Preston aka Craig Brown.

I used to think this man was nothing more than a sad joke but he is beyond that and has now decided to start slagging our players off. We’ll probably get the support of the bulk of Preston fans too, they are sick and tired of him and consider him to be an embarrassment with his constant whinging.

On Saturday he sent some of his players out onto the pitch with intentions way beyond what is decent in the game of football. Rob Edwards was trying to rip Glen’s leg in two every time he got near him (it is known that Preston fear Glen), Dickson Etuhu thought that Richard Chaplow’s head was a punch bag whilst the sincere Ricardo Fuller just lost it completely.

Of course Brown was going to at least make some condemning remarks about his players after the game. Not on your life, he has supported all their antics and now even turned on the Burnley players.

He didn’t see Fuller’s assault on Jensen, nor his petulant throwing the ball at West, nor his blatant dive for the penalty. In fact despite being at Turf Moor this horrible little man saw nothing and had to watch everything on the video.

This video apparently didn’t include any of the misdemeanours of his players (if it didn’t show the appalling penalty incident then how on earth can he claim a point) but it did show our players causing problems.

He has appealed against Fuller’s red card because he said he was only trying to get away from Glen manhandling him. On the penalty, he didn’t see that, he claimed Fuller was sincere and wouldn’t do anything wrong. Quite simply with that he defended blatant cheating.

But there has been worse to come and yesterday he dared to point the finger at Graham Branch and Glen Little. He claims that these two Clarets have put three of his players on the treatment table with horror tackles.

Now come on, if we were set to go about injuring people wouldn’t Branchy and Glen be the last two names you would think of? Have either of these players ever intentionally injured an opposing player?

According to Brown the answer is yes:

"Each tackle was a foul and each tackle has cost us a player. It's all right for Stan Ternent to have a go at Ricardo, but what about the conduct of Branch and Little?

"They were three horrific tackles in that game, two by Branch and one by Little. The one by Little on Michael Keane was knee high, and Branch went through heavily on Chris Lucketti and Dickson Etuhu.

"As a result, we have three players hurt. I am only trying to balance things out."

He’s got that one wrong for a start, Stan did not have a go at Fuller at all, in fact he diplomatically said that he doesn’t talk about other team’s players. And as for these so called horror tackles.

I’ve never had a problem with Preston North End, I worked in the town for years and have a number of good friends who are season ticket holders at Deepdale. They all tell me that the sooner Brown is gone the happier they will be. Basically he does this all the time, his players are saints and it is always the opposition who are up to no good.

Bring your video of the game over here Brown and watch it on my video recorder, mine works properly and will show all the antics of Edwards, Etuhu and in particular the clearly less than sincere Fuller.

It will also show you for what you really are Brown – the Tw*t of the Week.
