Clarets Mad Tw*t of the Week 2002/03 – Week 3

Last updated : 30 August 2002 By Tony Scholes

Dennis Wise - Leicester might have to take him back after a crazy decision from Tw*t of the Wek the FDC
The winners are the Football League’s Football Disciplinary Commission (FDC) who have recently been set up by the Football League after a year long review of their disciplinary procedures.

Their first task was to determine the immediate future of Dennis Wise and if their decision here is anything to go by then the Football League desperately need to go back to the drawing board.

Wise was suspended after assaulting his team mate Callum Davidson whilst he was still in bed on a club tour of Finland, the assault causing a serious injury. Leicester City terminated Wise’s contract.

The commission, though accepting the assault took place, said that Leicester must meet its contract obligations with Wise because they did not think the offence warranted the action taken by Leicester.

This is incredible, every company I have ever worked for would have dismissed me for any sort of assault on a colleague. Leicester City have got it absolutely right and are currently saying they will challenge this and will not have Wise back at the Walkers Stadium.

As for the Football League I suggest they get rid of the FDC and spend yet another year reviewing their disciplinary procedures.

Adam Crozier - second place
Now across to the FA where their Chief Executive Adam Crozier has claimed second place after his recent comments on the situation with Franchise FC. Crozier described the decision to allow them to move to Milton Keynes as appalling and said the Football Association were very much against it.

Hang on Mr. Crozier – the whole situation was passed to your organisation after the Football League said no to the move. And wasn’t the three man commission who finally allowed it set up by the FA?

It is all well and good you saying it now but I don’t see any evidence of you even lifting a finger to do anything to stop this during the last year.

Hopefully the club will collapse before they ever get to move, the pariahs of English football deserve nothing better. Nobody is watching them any longer and it was wonderful to hear that a good number of Brighton fans chose to go and watch AFC Wimbledon last week.

You are the Chief Executive of the Football Association Mr. Crozier, the organisation responsible for the game in this country. It is not good enough for you to say you are appalled, you should have been and should still be doing something about it.

The performance at Reading has certainly brought about a response from the fans. Clarets Mad is still catching up with emails that have come in since the game and our reports on the game.

Third place - Burnley FC
There have also been many nominations following the game for Tw*t of the Week with individual players named, the manager getting his fair share along with just about anyone who is involved at Burnley Football Club. There were a good number of nominations yesterday for the gentleman who said on the official web site that our immediate aim is to avoid relegation when as you said our aim is to in fact get ourselves up the table and back where we should be .

It is impossible and wrong of us to single out any individual, Tuesday’s poor effort was a collective thing and so third place has gone to Burnley Football Club. Just occasionally things happen at Turf Moor that bring about a massive response and this week has been the biggest we have ever had here. Wouldn’t it be good if we were inundated with mail over the next few days, weeks and months commenting on how well we are doing?

For now though we have had a bleak week and the club has found itself getting attacked by its fans. Here’s looking to a positive response tomorrow.

That’s it for Week 3 so now we ask you to keep your eyes and ears open and on alert as we look for our next Tw*t of the Week. Just send us your NOMINATIONS as always at any time until midnight next Thursday.

The winners so far:

Week 1 – Roy Keane (Manchester United)

Week 2 – Jeff Winter (Referee)

Week 3 – Football League’s Football Disciplinary Commission
