Clarets Mad - Tw*t of the Week, Week 24

Tw*t of the Week - Barry Knight
This week there never was a doubt that one of our Premiership referees was going to win it, and we are delighted to announce that referee Barry Knight is one of the most convincing winners ever.

Nominations were arriving within no time after last week's final whistle and were still coming in right up until midnight last night. There are bad referees, there are referees who have bad games and there are a number of downright bad referees. Then there is Barry Knight.

This man seems to enjoy making bad decisions, he also loves to wave his red card about. Incredibly we found it necessary to warn everyone about him last Friday. His general handling of the game is a joke and it is clear that he never gets the big decisions right. He disallowed a goal that nobody else on earth can see anything wrong with, he sent a player off when he allowed himself to be put under pressure by another player and he missed the worst challenge of the day, a two footed lunge on Fred West.

There is a campaign to rid football of Barry Knight that has been formed by Bournemouth fans. We are at the moment in contact with them and will without doubt be supporting it. He is not fit to referee and the sooner he is gone the better.

Second place Garry Flitcroft - not required when playing at home
Second place is a player who would probably have won the award in most weeks but has this time had to play second fiddle to Knight. If I mention lap dancers I think you will know who I mean.

I nearly clean forgot we can name him now. It is Garry Flitcroft of Blackburn Rovers. This web site was aware it was Flitcroft from the day before the news broke in the Sunday People months ago. We were unable to do much about it because despite most of the football world knowing all about it this idiot chose to spend £20,000 trying to stop his name becoming public and to prevent his wife from finding out.

I would suggest that if he wants to avoid his wife knowing then he keeps his trousers fastened when he plays out. It has been quite funny though and apparently he had a nightmare at Leicester last week despite the fact that he was playing away and then was left out when Sourness thought he would be no good playing at home.

Next time you get it out away from home can we suggest you tell your wife straight away and donate £20,000 to charity.

Dickie Bird watching the Clarets at Barnsley - we don't need another Bird
The official site's Bird is back in third place with his eye's view. Here at Clarets Mad we prefer to call it Bird Droppings. This is the guy that clearly scours Clarets Mad to come up with ideas for his weekly article and to be quite honest it fails abysmally.

This week though he has quoted the commentary from Southampton's game at Ewood when they said that Gordon Strachan was up and down like a Jack in a Box. Bird makes the comment that this is an unfortunate turn of phrase at Ewood Park, clearly with reference to Jack Walker.

I find it totally distasteful and I cannot believe that Burnley Football Club have allowed this to be published on their official web site. The rivalry between the clubs is blatantly clear and I never hide my dislike for the club down the M65 but I find it incredible that this sort of reference to their former benefactor can be found on our club's own site.

Do us all a favour Burnley FC and get rid of the Bird Droppings.

A couple of other nominations this week (and there weren't many because Barry Knight grabbed most of them) are worth mentioning.

This site was nominated for its stories regarding taking over the official site and the moving of the cricket club. These stories appeared on April Fool's Day and we can only assume the nominations have been sent by those who were fooled.

Former Claret was also considered after he won himself £84,000 on the National Lottery. As one said, "He is the LUCKY Tw*t of the Week".

That's it for this week with the award going to the dreadful referee Barry Knight but don't forget to keep an eye on the football world in the next seven days and let us know who should win next week's award. Just send us your NOMINATIONS before midnight next Thursday.
