Swansea Town next for Burnley if we win replay

Again the 32 balls went into the blue velvet bag in the FA Council Chamber with BBC Radio allowed in to broadcast the draw live to the nation, always a dramatic event.

Burnley had the last number in the bag, number 32, and when we were finally drawn out we were paired with number 1 and a trip to the Vetch Field to play Swansea Town.

We still had the matter of an important replay, but Swansea had won through with a comfortable 4-1 win at Gillingham.

This was a similar sort of draw to the current third round against Lincoln City. At the time of the draw Lincoln were thirteenth in the Second Division with 24 points, Swansea Town sat in tenth place with one point more.

It would be a tough tie though, Swansea had lost only once at home all season and that was against Sunderland. They'd had some good home wins including a 6-1 win against Plymouth and a 5-4 success against Liverpool.

The tie, should we beat Lincoln in the third round replay, would be played on Saturday 30th January 1960.

The full draw was;

Liverpool v Manchester United
Southampton v Watford
Leicester City v Fulham
Sunderland or Blackburn Rovers v Blackpool
Sheffield Wednesday v Peterborough United
