Tom Blackler - ruled out with injury
It's been a difficult start to the season for the youngsters and again they went into this game with a depleted side, and coach Terry Pashley didn't have one central defender he could call up because of injuries. Jack Overson and Tom Blackler have been ruled out since the start of the season while Tom Bradley has been out since suffering an injury in the first game.

We've also had to contend without Adam Kay, and until the last game striker Rob Turner was also missing and on Saturday we had to utilise two full backs, Dean Stott and Paul Casey, in the centre of defence, whilst Dale Underwood and Lewis Craig, two forward players, were employed at full back.

It leaves us still looking for our first point of the season and hopefully we will get that next week when he play Preston at Gawthorpe. North End hadn't won a point either until Saturday but they beat Group B strugglers Macclesfield 4-1 to get off the mark. That leaves just Burnley and Accrington without a point, Accy went down 2-1 at Walsall.

Walsall head Group B, Oldham lead in our group after beating previous leaders Stockport, whilst Wigan matched Chester's winning margin against us by beating Tranmere 5-0.

The full results from Saturday were;

Bury 3 Wrexham 1
Chester 6 Burnley 1
Port Vale 0 Blackpool 4
Preston 4 Macclesfield 1
Shrewsbury 1 Carlisle 2
