Alex McDonald - third league goal of the season
It is two wins out of three for the Clarets, but we sit four and three points behind the top two Wrexham and Bury who both enjoyed wins over the weekend. Wrexham are currently top having won three and drawn one of their four games and they retained the leadership with a 1-0 home win against Walsall.

Bury are the side with a 100% record, and they kept that up with an amazing 6-4 win over Rochdale on Saturday on a day when no fewer than 38 goals were scored in the nine games played.

For Burnley, it was a tough game against a Chester side who had won their previous two games. We were level at half time at 1-1 with Rob Turner having scored our goal and Paul McManus having netted for Chester. In the second half we took control and further goals from Adam Kay and Alex McDonald's third league goal of the season ensured the points.

We are next in action this coming Saturday at Gawthorpe as the first part of a double against Blackpool. Kick off is at 11:00 a.m.

Saturday's results:

Accrington Stanley 1 Oldham 5
Bury 6 Rochdale 4
Chester 1 Burnley 3
Macclesfield 2 Port Vale 2
Morecambe 1 Blackpool 2
Preston 3 Carlisle 2
Stockport 1 Shrewsbury 0
Wigan 2 Tranmere 2
Wrexham 1 Walsall 0
