Youths go down to Donny

With youth team players being called up to the first team squad and with the club also looking to give opportunities to some younger lads it meant they were up against it with their non league opponents fielding a side of 19 year olds.

For the second time recently we have suffered in this way with Youth coach Terry Pashley admitting that his players were ‘bullied’ by a much bigger, stronger and older side.

It is because of the success of some of our youth players that we are less experienced with three players who would have expected to play all being sat on the bench at Norwich. This obviously means we must be getting things right and although beaten by Doncaster the introductions and performances from Matt O’Neill and Richard Chaplow in the first team must be a real feather in the cap for Pash.

On Saturday we even had members of the Under-15s playing and coming up against players 4 years older is a tough task.

It was a sure bet that Damien Hindle would have got the goal and Damo must also be hoping for a first team opportunity soon as the goals keep coming both at youth and reserve team level.

The Burnley team on Saturday was: Michael Hale, Danny Pitham, Neil Trotman, Ryan Townsend, Paul Scott, Marc Pugh, Ross Preston, Robert Grimes, Mark Rasmussen, Damien Hindle, Rhys Carpenter. Subs: James Salisbury, James Heywood, Hargreaves, Hendly.
