Youths back to winning ways

Stockport were the side on top in the early stages and we had goalkeeper James Salisbury to thank for two good saves that kept us level. But just after the half hour it was the young Clarets who took the lead through Paul Scott.

It stayed that way until half time with the home side claiming to be hard done to.

Salisbury was again in action early in the second half and again saved well but with 67 minutes on the clock the Clarets doubled the lead when Joel Pilkington netted.

However Carlton Palmer keeps telling anyone daft enough to listen just how far forward his club has moved in the last twelve months but they did fight back and within three minutes of the Clarets going two up the score was 2-2.

It was end to end stuff for the remaining 20 minutes but Damien Hindle claimed victory with a 90th minute winner with a well struck volley.

It was a good performance by the young lads who were up against one of the in form teams in the league and we can now look forward to two games against Wigan before Christmas.

The Lancashire FA Youth Cup game against Tranmere Rovers scheduled for this Monday 9th December at the Turf has been postponed and will not take place on Monday 27th January 2003 with a 7:00 p.m. kick off.
