Youth team win in Cumbria

Gawthorpe - venue of next game against Bury
The game was not, as previously advertised, played at Brunton Park but at Carlisle’s training ground and the Clarets were able to pick up maximum points.

Communication has proved to be difficult at one of English football’s outposts and it has been an arduous task in trying to find out even the result at the home of a club looking destined to leave the Football League next May.

And after four days it is only the result we have been able to determine and as yet we have not been able to find out what the line up was and certainly not the goalscorers but we do hope to be able to add that information when it finally reaches Lancashire.

The result does leave the Clarets in 6th place in the league, the victory allowing us to climb above Carlisle themselves and also Rochdale but the regular top three of Wigan, Tranmere and Preston are again proving too strong for the rest of the league.

The Clarets are next in action when they take on Bury at Gawthorpe on Saturday morning with kick off at 11:00 a.m. – weather permitting of course having already been hit with the first Gawthorpe postponement of the season.

Late news: The youth team fought hard to win 2-. There were some good performances highlighted with two very good goals; one from Rhys Carpenter following good work down the right from Marc Pugh and Danny Pitham and the other a 25 yard screamer from 15 year old James Heywood.

Team was: Michael Hale, Danny Pitham, Ryan Townsend, Neal Trotman, Gary Carter, Marc Pugh, Darrel Avery, Ross Preston, Tom Ince, Alex Taylor, Rhys Carpenter.
