Youth team to entertain Preston

Nathan Lowe scored from the penalty spot last season

We go into the game in ninth place in the table whilst our opponents site in fifth place with four points more than us although we do have a game in hand.

Preston are always one of the teams battling at the top of the table so it was something of a surprise when they started this season with successive defeats against Oldham and Walsall. They've recovered from that but have gone on to lose five of their opening twelve games this season and could well drop down the table given that virtually every other team has at least one game in hand on them.

They go into the game having lost at home last Saturday against Blackpool, with the Seasiders going top of the league, and their last win came three weeks ago when they beat Accrington 1-0.

Games between Burnley and Preston at this level have been proved to be close run affairs in recent seasons and last season was no exception with Burnley coming out on top with 1-0 wins away and then at home.

Jason Gilchrist scored the winner in the away game at Springfields at the end of October 2012 and in March this year it was a Nathan Lowe penalty that helped us to the double at a time when Preston were top of the league.

It was a result that saw them lose top spot to Wrexham and they were never able to recover from that and Wrexham went on to win the league.

Kick off tomorrow at Gawthorpe is 11 a.m.
