Youth team just keep on winning

As the first team headed for the South Wales it was further north that the youth team played and we didn’t get off to the best of starts with Wrexham taking the lead.

There’s no Marc Pugh or Kyle Lafferty in the side just now, both are out with other clubs, Kyle scoring again for Darlington in their win over Peterborough, so we were looking to Cayne Hanley and Rob Turner for the goals.

But the goals came from elsewhere and both from outside the box. Ali Akbar hit the equaliser with a well struck shot from 25 yards that went in off the post before Nicky Platt equalised with a free kick from just outside the box. For both of them it was a first league goal of the season.

This was always going to be a tough game, coming so soon after the Wednesday night win against Fulham. Well done again to the youngsters who have now won an incredible 16 of 18 league and cup games.
