Youth team just keep marching on

Marc Pugh - on the scoresheet again
Pughy has failed to score in only two of the team’s eleven league and cup games this season and he was on the mark again as we came back from Macclesfield with a 1-0 win and win number eleven.

Over the last two or three weeks the lads have ground out results whilst not being at their best but they were back in form at Macc and could have won the game more convincingly. The only goal of the game came in the first half when Pughy turned the ball in after being set up by Kyle Lafferty with a ball in from the right.

The Burnley team was: Mark Crossley, Dean Stott, Paul Casey, Connor Smith (Cayne Hanley), Tom Blackler, Rob Henry, Dale Underwood (Ali Akbar), Nicky Platt, Marc Pugh, Kyle Lafferty, Jay Rodriguez. Subs not used: Adam Kay, Rob Turner.

Despite the 100% record we remain just five points clear at the top as Preston were also winners, beating Carlisle 3-0 at home. Wigan though slipped to a surprise 3-1 defeat at home to Rochdale and that leaves North End clear in second place.

We now face what could be our toughest test yet this week when Preston visit Gawthorpe for the first meeting between the two sides this season – that kicks off this coming Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
