Youth team in Gawthorpe action

Jamie Frost scored in the last game at Gawthorpe

It's thirteen weeks since Gawthorpe last staged a competitive fixture and on that occasion Jamie Frost scored our goal in a 1-1 draw against Accrington. Our only games since have been the Man United FA Youth Cup tie at the Turf in December and the league game at Fleetwood two weeks ago.

One league game in thirteen weeks, and Blackpool youth coach Richie Kyle has also been bemoaning a lack of action for his team; they've gone three weeks since their last game, also against Fleetwood, which they won 5-0.

Our visitors go into the game having lost just once all season; they were beaten 3-1 at Rochdale back in August. Since that reverse they've won 11 of their last 13 games with the other two drawn and are currently five points ahead of Oldham at the top of the league and are firm favourites to go on and win it.

Burnley have not had the season they were hoping for. We've played 15 games so far and have won five, drawn five and lost five, leaving us in ninth place in the 17 team league.

It's a record that surprises Kyle who said: "I'm surprised at how Burnley have fallen away recently. I thought they're a good side and I like the style with which they play."

Kick off tomorrow at Gawthorpe is 11 a.m.
