Youth team grab first point

Yesterday afternoon saw the youth team grab their first point of the season when they claimed a 4-4 draw against league leaders Wigan at Christopher Park.

It's been a difficult time for the young Clarets with injuries galore, particularly in defence, hitting them hard so this was good news and against the youth team of a Premiership club.

The point was enough to take us off the bottom of the league although we still await Accrington Stanley's result today, they were away to Bury and were also without a point.

Tranmere were amongst the goals again and recorded the biggest victory so far over the weekend when they won 3-0 at Wrexham whilst Port Vale also grabbed three in a 3-1 home win against Walsall. That result meant Walsall lost their place at the top of Group B, a position they have held since the beginning of the season, they have been replaced by Chester City.

It will be another two weeks before we are again in league action when we play Rochdale at Gawthorpe on Saturday 14th October ahead of the first team game against Hull City.

The weekend results

Bury v Accrington – awaiting result
Chester 2 Macclesfield 0
Port Vale 3 Walsall 1
Preston v Oldham – awaiting result
Rochdale 1 Carlisle 1
Stockport 1 Shrewsbury 1
Wigan 4 Burnley 4
Wrexham 0 Tranmere 3
