Youth team drop first points

Rob Turner - scored the last minute equaliser
We drew the game 1-1 but it could have been worse. We fell behind after twenty minutes of the game and the equaliser didn’t come until the very last minute of the game when substitute Rob Turner scored with a left foot shot from edge of the box.

The result means that we have now dropped two points behind the leaders. Oldham took over at the top on goal difference last week and they were at it again on Saturday, this time scoring no fewer than seven against Chester.

That’s an incredible 48 goals now for the Latics but they weren’t the only side to hit a few goals this week. Tranmere fell only one short and had the biggest win of the day, beating Wigan 6-0. After a good start to the season Wigan are now starting to fall away somewhat and the win ensured Tranmere kept fourth place ahead of them.

Preston hit four at Macclesfield, recovering from their defeat by the same scoreline last week and that means they, just like their first team, have sneaked above us on goal difference, leaving the Clarets in third place, albeit with games in hand.

Next week sees us hopefully back at Gawthorpe when we take on Stockport before going to North Ferriby on the following Wednesday for our FA Youth Cup tie against Hull.
