Tommy Taylor - scored the Burnley goal
We played against a Macclesfield side that had dropped into the bottom three on Saturday having lost to Morecambe, and things looked to be going well in the early part of the game.

Tommy Taylor got the Burnley goal midway through the first half from a Michael King free kick. The assistant referee flagged for offside but he was overruled by the referee who had seen a deflection off a Macc defender.

All going well but the home side came back with two almost identical goals in that both were follow ups after they'd hit the bar.

Sam Cooke got the first after a Greg Daniels shot had cannoned off the bar and it was Tom France who was there to convert when Tom Meachin hit the bar.

The two goals came in a four minute spell and they proved to be the winning goals. Burnley struggled in the second half and rarely looked as if they would equalise, and in fact Macclesfield came closest when they again hit the bar.

The teams were;

Macclesfield: Davies, Askey, Moss, Beckett, Jukes, Robertson (Montgomery), Daniels, Thomas, Meachin, Cooke, France.

Burnley: Danny McDonald, Ed Williams, Tom Anderson, Stephen Edwards, Michael King, Ross Wilson, Joe McKee, Dave Lynch, Tommy Taylor, Dom Knowles, Joe Jackson (Liam Newman). Subs not used: Josh Cook, Neil Yadolahi.
