Youth team back in league action

All of the last three league games have ended in 1-0 defeats, and this after a run of four games without defeat. The first of those defeats came at Blackpool four weeks ago and a week later we suffered a shock loss against Wigan at Gawthorpe.

Probably the least expected of those 1-0 reverses came in the last game at Accrington two weeks ago which leaves us with a home game tomorrow against bottom club Morecambe as we look to end the poor run.

We are now down to 11th in the 17 team league but Morecambe find themselves rooted to the bottom with just two points from nine games.

They've scored six goals which is less than any other team and, with 29 goals, have conceded the most.

Morecambe's two points this season have both come in home draws in successive weeks in September.

They drew 0-0 against Wigan on the 21st and a week later picked up their most recent point in a 2-2 draw against Bury.

Burnley did the double over Morecambe last season.

We won 5-0 in the away game with Jason Gilchrist hitting his first hat trick of the season. The other goals came from Cameron Howieson and Charlie Holt.

In the return fixture in November last year we won 2-1 at Gawthorpe. The Burnley goals that day came from Lewis Nuttall and Evan Galvin.

Tomorrow's game at Gawthorpe kicks off at 11 a.m.
