Youth league hit by weather

Of those played, the most significant was Bury's 2-1 win at Shrewsbury. It's lifted them into second place, but they remain two points behind leaders Wigan who recorded a 4-2 win against Carlisle.

Tranmere moved closer to the top, beating bottom club Morecambe, but Preston missed an opportunity to go third when they were surprisingly beaten at Wrexham.

Having seen their game called off at Burnley on Saturday, Walsall missed out again today when their game at Accrington was called off. It was a strange one, the referee indicated that the game could go ahead despite the snow, and kick off was delayed from 12 noon to give Walsall extra time to make their journey. Then the referee decided to call it off at 12:30 p.m.

With some clubs involved in cup games this weekend there are only two league fixtures and should Bury beat Rochdale they will go top with Wigan having no game.

Burnley are next in action on Tuesday of next week when we face Cardiff at Turf Moor in the 4th round of the FA Youth Cup.

The results from the weekend are below with this week's two fixtures, Burnley's goalscorers and the current league table.
