Youngsters drop a place

The defeat saw Burnley drop a place in the league to fourth. Both Bury and Preston went above us, but Preston's emphatic 5-0 win over Oldham was enough to ensure we sneaked above Oldham on goal difference.

Preston were just one of three sides to hit five, and congratulations to Morecambe who recorded their first win in the league, hitting Accrington for five. It was a much needed victory and ensured the young Shrimpers didn't take Rochdale's place at the bottom. Surprisingly, given recent years at this level, Tranmere are now in bottom place. Having lost at Bury they are still without a point.

Up at the top it is still Wrexham. Their first team may be struggling down at the bottom of League Two but the youth team are currently doing their club proud. Their win at Stockport was their fifth in six games and with the other drawn they are the only unbeaten side in the league.

Having suffered the surprise reverse to Rochdale on Saturday we have the chance to make amends and move at least one place up the table when we play Preston on Saturday at Gawthorpe. The first team are at Cardiff, so if you are not making the trip to South Wales why not pop down to Gawthorpe and support the youngsters. The kick off is at 11:00 a.m.
