Young goal earns point

Ash Young - put the Clarets in front
That's three games without defeat for the young Clarets now, and this was another creditable result against a side that went into the game at the top of Group B of the North West Alliance.

It was the Clarets who took the lead just past the hour with Young's second goal of the season, he scored in the win against Wigan four weeks earlier, but the home side equalised shortly after and we had to settle for a point in the end to follow up that win against Wigan and a victory over Rochdale.

The point hasn't moved us up the table, we still sit three points above Rochdale, and still two points behind Carlisle with those two clubs also picking up points from 1-1 draws.

Our next game is a week next Saturday, ahead of the first team game against Luton, when we take on a fast improving Macclesfield at Gawthorpe. This is one of just three games left, the others being away to Shrewsbury and finally at home to Wrexham.

Elsewhere the shock results saw the top two in our group both lose at home. Oldham suffered a 5-1 hammering against Port Vale and that gave Bury an opportunity to get ever closer. However, they too lost at home against Walsall whilst third place Preston saw their game at Wrexham called off.

Saturday's results:

Bury 0 Walsall 2
Carlisle 1 Chester 1
Macclesfield 4 Accrington 3
Oldham 1 Port Vale 5
Shrewsbury 1 Wigan 1
Stockport 1 Burnley 1
Tranmere 1 Rochdale 1
Wrexham v Preston - Postponed
