Young Clarets off the top

Marc Pugh - scored our last goal at the end of October
Those two clubs were in 2nd and 3rd places respectively and a win for either would take them into first place, although a draw would see the Clarets remain there. A draw was never going to be the result and despite home advantage Preston had no answer to the best attacking side in the league.

Oldham are averaging almost four goals per game and they kept up their average by beating North End 4-0. For now that goal scoring has paid dividends as they go above the Clarets on goal difference at the top of the league.

They’ve played two games more than us, and we haven’t played since the last Saturday in October when a Marc Pugh goal gave us a 1-0 win at Macclesfield. Despite having since been at Kidderminster on work experience, Pughy is still to miss a game at either reserve or youth level because of all the postponements.

We’ve had two youth league games called off because of cup ties, three more because of the weather, as well as the Alliance Cup game at Chester being postponed. That’s six games that need to be re-arranged and we’ve also got the FA Youth Cup game against Hull to play.

We do now have a date for that cup tie, it will be played on Wednesday 14th December with a 7:00 p.m. kick off. It will be played at Grange Lane, home of North Ferriby United. This will presumably mean finding another date for the reserve game at Carlisle, scheduled for the same evening.
