After the excellent victory at Oldham last week Terry Pashley made only two changes. Neil Yadolahi, the young Irishman, came in for his debut at centre back and Joe Jackson replacing Ross Wilson on the right.

The game started in a torrential downpour but this did not phase the Burnley youngsters and within two minutes they were ahead. Dom Knowles pressed the Everton centre back and after hesitation by the keeper it was leading scorer Michael King who slid in to score the first goal for the Clarets.

After 10 minutes it was nearly 2-0 as a cross come shot from Michael King hit the Everton crossbar.

With the game 25 minutes old Burnley did score a second. It came from free kick expert Joe McKee from a shot which deflected off the wall and nestled in the bottom corner. Burnley nearly extended the lead after 28 minutes when Liam Newman burst from midfield to hit a piledriver inches over the bar.

The Clarets made changes on 30 minutes with Stephen Edwards and James Taylor replacing Curtis Woods and Joe Jackson. The changes made no difference to Burnley's dominance and they finished the half with a 2-0 lead.

The second half started with Ross Wilson replacing Dave Lynch. Everton started the second period strongly but the defensive unit held firm.

Ten minutes into the half the game was nearly all over. Liam Newman again driving forward from midfield released Michael King through the inside left channel, King cut inside his marker and curled the ball towards the far top corner. From nowhere the Everton left back headed the goal bound shot over the bar.

After 75 minutes King, Newman, Yadolahi and Jackson were replaced by Knowles, Williams, Woods and Lynch.

With no further incident the game finished in a 2-0 victory. As in the previous game at Oldham it would be difficult single out individuals as the whole squad played well. After a difficult start to the year the boys are putting in performances that would stand comparison with last year's successful team.
