Wrexham win it by four points

We needed to win three out of our last five games to win the league, and for much of the season that would not have been seen as a tall order. Unfortunately, with the reserve fixtures also coming thick and fast, we were only able to win one of those games.

That's left Wrexham on 64 points with the Clarets in second place on 60 points. The Welsh side have been beaten just once all season. And just behind us are Carlisle who also saw their season fade away.

With a Lancashire FA Youth Cup Final defeat at Preston it has left our side without a trophy although we did win the totesport.com Central League (reserves) allowing the lads to at least pick up a winners medal.

Well done to them for what has been a superb season. The football has been a joy to watch and it has been excellent watching them all make progress.

Ten of those players will now be leaving the youth team. Five of them as we all know - Chris Anderson, Wes Fletcher, Alex-Ray Harvey, Nik Kudiersky and Chris Lynch - have been offered professional contracts and we'll watch their progress next season with interest.

Ben Hoskin, who has had a difficult season with injury and has just had surgery, will return to prove his fitness and could then be offered a deal.

The other four are leaving the club and again I'd lack to pass on my best wishes to Dan Brown, Dil Chaggar, James Craggs and Stef Ritchie, hoping they are able to find deals elsewhere to further their careers.

Below are the last Youth Alliance League results of the season along with Burnley's leading scorers. And below that are links to all our fixtures and results at both youth and reserve team level along with the final league tables in both leagues.
