The Clarets were by far the better side in a very one sided first half but we only able to score once throughout the first forty-five minutes. It came from a clearance from goalkeeper Michael Hale that was won by striker Kyle Lafferty.
He nodded it on for leading scorer Alex Taylor to race away with a one-on-one with the keeper and he placed it nicely beyond the keeper’s reach. This came after just seven minutes and everyone sat back for the avalanche.
We were playing some nice football with Marc Pugh a constant danger down the right, he was putting in some great crosses. Neal Trotman and Lafferty got on the end of two in particular but their headers went over the bar.
It should have been a bigger lead than the 1-0 at half time and that became more of an issue because in the second half, for whatever reason, we stopped playing. The good passing and movement from the first half had gone. We became jittery and passes were going astray.
