Wigan miss chance to go top

It was a weekend that saw fixtures called off with only two going ahead on the Saturday, and presumably both of them in very poor conditions as the rain hit all parts of the country.

It saw both Tranmere and Stockport pick up wins but the points didn't bring about any significant change to the league table although both winners climbed with Tranmere moving up three places.

Games at Accrington, Blackpool, Morecambe, Preston and Walsall were all postponed because of the weather, whilst Burnley's scheduled game against Oldham had already been called off to enable us to play the FA Youth Cup tie against Arsenal which too was wiped out because of a waterlogged pitch at Accrington.

We are back in league action this coming weekend when we are away to Carlisle, whilst we await confirmation of the date for the Arsenal tie. We beat Carlisle earlier in the season at Gawthorpe and their coach at the time considered us to be the best team in the league.

Since then they have climbed above us and currently sit in third place, two points clear of the Clarets and with a game in hand on us.
