Why does it always rain on me?

Rob Turner - back via the subs bench
Yes it rained again, yes it rained heavily, but thankfully conditions were still infinitely better than they were a few weeks ago and a couple of handily placed umbrellas provided some protection.

Again a look at the Burnley team highlighted the players still out. Central defenders Tom Blackler and Tom Bradley were missing, as was Jack Overson who was ruled out with a suspension. Further forward we were still without captain Connor Smith and up front no Rob Turner although he had been ruled fit enough to take his place on the bench.

We started well, could have gone in front, but it was Bury scored first. It came from a corner on the right wing and they were able to get in a free header and made no mistake. We struggled for a short time after that but recovered well but a couple of half chances to draw level went begging.

Half time came with us a goal down, Terry Pashley and Vince Overson gathered the players whilst all the opposition disappeared into the bushes, it was sometime before they all reappeared for the second half.

Not long after the resumption we fell further behind, and this time it was a good finish from the player on the right hand side for Bury. This prompted our best spell of the game and it was no surprise when we pulled a goal back.

Adam Kay was the scorer, with a shot from outside the box that deceived the keeper and crept in just inside his left hand post. It gave us a chance to go on and get something from the game but unfortunately we conceded twice more in the space of two minutes. Both goals could have been avoided but it left us too far behind and running out of time.

Despite the setback we came back at Bury and both Jay Rodriguez and substitute James Craggs came close, but it was not to be and the game ended with Bury winners by four goals to one.

Team: Jonathan Sergeant, Dale Underwood, Dean Stott, Ben Hoskin (Chris Lynch), Paul Casey, Ali Akbar (James Craggs), Ash Young, Adam Kay, Lewis Craig (Rob Turner), Alex McDonald, Jay Rodriguez.
