Weather hits reserves and youth leagues

Already the youth team game for tomorrow has been called off with more rain hitting Gawthorpe, this was to be another tough game against third place Wigan, and the reserve game at Tranmere next Wednesday has also been postponed because of the Wirral club’s involvement in the FA Youth Cup, a new date for February has been pencilled in for that.

The only reserve game that did get the all clear this week was the game between Rochdale and Preston at Rossendale United’s Dark Lane and a shock looked on the cards when Dale took a 2-0 lead in the first half. Preston came back though to win it 3-2 and that means they have climbed above us in the table.

No one was going to take us off top spot in the Youth Alliance League last Saturday no matter what the results and there was further good news for Burnley with Wigan losing 1-0 at Port Vale. In the only other game played Carlisle and Macclesfield took a point each in a 2-2 draw.

With the latest postponements in means the Clarets are next in action a week tomorrow when the youths play their Alliance Cup tie at Chester and it will be last day of November before the reserves play again, that is against Bury and will be played at Stainton Park, home of Radcliffe Borough.
