We haven't seen much transfer of the training work

Alex MacDonald - wasn't given much quality

Former Claret Unsworth saw his team dominated the game and said: "We played some good football in the second half, we changed it around a little bit I wasn't happy with the first half performance.

"We opted to play three up front instead of the diamond which I thought we didn't get to grasps with in the first half. We changed it around using the same personal and we played some cracking stuff and we should have scored four or five in the second half.

"We missed a penalty, their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves and on another day it would have been 5-1. I don't think that would have flattened Burnley because they have gone away with a 2-1 defeat and it looks like it has been a close game and obviously second half we have battered them."

Unsworth praised his players' attitude and spoke about the value of reserve team football. He said: "That is the individual club's choice if you have a reserve team or not. I think it is important to have a reserve team even if you purely only use it for match fitness.

"We use it for development of younger players to get them match time and for the senior players who need to improve their match fitness. We think it is very important and we will always try and put out the strongest team that we can.

"I have to say all the lads attitude was fantastic, from the senior pros down to the youth team players, their attitude has always been spot on in the reserves and again it has been faultless."

Blake wasn't quite so happy with the much less experienced Burnley team. "The young players, including the development squad boys, need to reflect on that because we have done a lot of work in training and it's how they transfer that work onto the pitch," Blake said.

"That's probably my biggest disappointment. We haven't seen much transfer of the training work. There are some disappointed boys but the great thing is it's a development environment and we can start working again on the things we expect to see in the games. It's disappointing, but it gives us a starting point to build on and hopefully try to improve certain areas.

"Yes they were tough opposition but we could have made better decisions in possession. Jon Stewart kept us in the game and the back four worked very hard but we need more work ethic in midfield.

"I felt for Alex MacDonald because we didn't give him much quality. Our decision-making and our awareness needs to be better as a collective group of players.

"The good thing is attitude and decision-making is a choice. You can choose what you do. Some players who have limited ability can't choose to be better tomorrow."
