Vokes and Gilchrist in the goals

Five minute hat trick for Jason Gilchrist

It was Vokes who gave us the lead midway through the first half, hitting home after running onto a through ball but by half time we were behind as Sheffield United scored twice.

The second half saw Burnley take over. Vokes got his second with a header, and then it was time for Gilchrist to step in, scoring a five minute hat trick between the 70th and 75th minutes.

Sheffield United did pull one back but Burnley won the game 5-3 with the two strikers getting all five goals.

Vokes played 70 minutes to add to the 45 minutes he played last week and I'm sure Sean Dyche will be looking to push him on to get him closer to a first team return.

The Burnley team was: Conor Mitchell, Trialist, Alex Whitmore, Luke O'Neill, Danny Lafferty, Steven Hewitt, Nathan Lowe, Luke Daly (Jamie Frost 70), Cameron Howieson, Jason Gilchrist, Sam Vokes (Jadan Hall 70). Subs not used: Luke Conlan, Evan Galvin, Jamie Frost, Jadan Hall.
